Spring 2019: Research Associate (Postdoctoral Fellow) Position Announcement
The STEM Center at The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a Research Associate (Postdoctoral Fellow) position with a focus on program evaluation. We seek a talented scholar with a background in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) research to join our evaluation services team in designing and implementing quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation for a variety of STEM Center projects, research grants, and contracted evaluation services.
The successful candidate will join an active STEM Center committed to improving the teaching and learning of STEM, with opportunities to collaborate with faculty in the STEM Education program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, along with faculty and programs in the College of Education, Natural Sciences, Cockrell School of Engineering, and other organizations.
- Ph.D. in Mathematics or Science Education, Educational Psychology, or other STEM Education- related fields with a strong background in STEM research.
Experience and/or coursework in program evaluation.
Experience collaborating with a research team on quantitative and qualitative data collection.
Proficient in statistical analysis software such as STATA, SPSS, R or SAS.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Design and conduct formative and summative evaluations of STEM education related projects.
Assist collaborative partners with grant writing and research/evaluation design.
Conduct quantitative and qualitative research and evaluation (e.g., survey and protocol design, data collection, content analysis, descriptive statistics, inferential statistics). Report data.
Contribute to the research/evaluation team, collaborating with STEM Center faculty, staff, and graduate research assistants.
- Develop and submit research articles and presentations to disseminate research and evaluation results.
The position is funded through evaluation services contracts and is expected to continue through August 31, 2021. The appointment will begin immediately once the position is filled.
