STEM Scholar speakers share latest research with UT students and faculty

The UT STEM Center has been hosting two scholar speaker series for the spring semester, the Brown Bag Colloquium and the STEM Ed Scholars of Color Colloquium. Both series offer UT students and faculty opportunities to hear and discuss the latest research in STEM education in informal lunch sessions. STEM Center Director Eric Knuth created these lunch talks as an opportunity to promote scholarship and community within the academic environment.

Regional BJC Professional Development
BJC (The Beauty and Joy of Computing) has regional Summer PD for public school teachers at different locations and dates around the country. The cost of the workshop is only $75 and includes all materials and ongoing support and mentorship throughout the school year by our BJC Master Teachers. Teachers who complete the requirements will be eligible for a stipend and coverage for travel and lodging expenses.

DFW CSTA will be hosting the 2019 DFW CSTA Collaborative Conference at Plano ISD Academy High School (1701 Alma Drive, Plano, TX 75075) on Saturday, February 23rd. Our sessions are now confirmed. Take a look at what we have to offer here. We have added an optional networking opportunity and robotics showcase. We are working on getting funding for lunch. Stay tuned for more information.

Research Colloquia series begins at the STEM Center

A new Brown Bag Colloquium series recently began with Dr. Cristine Legare, Department of Psychology, giving the series’ inaugural talk on Thursday, November 29th. The series is intended to raise awareness of STEM education-related research on campus as well as to cultivate and build potential research relationships across College of Education departments and across campus schools and colleges.
